Your friends in this other band in this other city released their new record, of course you love and want to support it. So – don’t keep it to yourself and let your community know about this awesome new record. You’ve been to their show last night and it kicked ass or you got some of their merch. Don’t keep this to yourself either and share it with your folks.
Social media, as well as real life (hopefully-so!!), is about giving and taking. So if you like other artists it will be very likely that a good share of your audience will like them as well. Everyone likes some good new music, eh?
Your awesome artist friend gains some new fans because of your recommendation and your fans think you’re even more awesome now because you care about good music and you like to share it with other people. = YAY
So we learned that its really cool to support your fellow musicians through your social media channels. And if you gave enough thought to it and you’re actually ready to do it now – here are five ways to do so.
1. Share their music
The easiest and most obvious way of fulfilling this task is sharing their music. Music videos, singles or full album streams on YouTube are splendid. BUT make sure to share
stuff that was uploaded by the band or their label so the clicks are going to the right place ;). Spotify playlists or playable album streams are welcome as well. The most important thing is to make sure its playable as its seen.
2. Share live-impressions
Shooting a blurry picture and putting a caption like „so good!“ may be a start but it shouldn’t really be what you’re looking for. Keep those for yourself and point your phone to the stage again.
We’re talking about at least medium quality 16+ seconds of footage. – You know the Instagram game! Caption a catchy part or whatever you think sounds and looks awesome. Share your moment and enthusiasm.
3. Support their merch
Wear your favourite piece of this bands’ merchandise. The merchandise game has stepped up a hell lot from casual logo shirts. The shirt or hoodie will probably look cool as hell. There are people that will maybe buy the shirt just because you wear it and again – will start listening to the music. !!And that is exactly why artists that actually do post pictures of themselves should PLEASE start to tag the online shop adress of that shirt they’re trying to show right now.
Appreciation level 100.
4. Do a cover
You are an artist. Take your instrument and do something creative with your favorite part or song and start a social media-sharing-fire.
This is kind of a big example but the numbers speak for themselves and this kind of goes without explaining.
5. Take them on tour
If you happen to be a „bigger“ artist and you’d like to show your maximum support then go and put that band on the bill. There’s no promotion like playing to a crowd that doesn’t know you. Even a single show will do just fine because both the names on one bill will already draw curiosity online.
And as it’s said in the beginning – your crowd will most likely love that artist as well!!
0 be the first one to show some appreciation for this!
