The young and rebellious music producer Lucky Luke has already won sympathy from his fans across Europe, as well as rapidly gaining popularity in other parts of the world. His recordings have been counting millions of streams on major music platforms to this date and are most popular in Germany.
We had the chance to catch up with the Lithuania based hitmaker and talk about his latest single “Cherry Cola”, favourite plugins, the importance of data and much more.
Can you give us a little background story of your latest single “Cherry Cola”? How did the song come to life?
Actually, I started with the vocals on a different Gaullin demo instrumental, because he needed a topline for it. We quickly noticed that the vocals are very catchy and so we decided to do a collaboration on this one. I started a new project with the vocals and then sent it to Gaullin – we made a hit.
How do you feel about the evolution of digital music streaming services?
I’m completely happy with it. In my opinion, it is the best time to grow your audience and be noticed.
Could you sum up some personal milestones in your artist development?
My journey started in 2010, when I was 10 years old. For about 6 years. I was a total no-name with hundreds of views on Youtube. In 2016, I sent one of my tracks to local radio in Lithuania and they accepted it. The track became the local hit. It was ranked #1 in the radio station’s charts for about 5 weeks. I reached my first million views on Youtube and I was noticed by Lithuania HQ. Ever since that my audience keeps growing non-stop.
Your songs are well received all over the globe, but Germany seems to be the overall hotspot. Do you have an explanation for that?
Honestly, I don’t have an explanation for that. I guess they love my style.
If you could only use 3 plugins for the rest of your life, which would they be? Tell us why..
Serum, Spire and Sylenth1 – my fantastic trio because you can make really crispy and powerful basses with them. My music is all about the bass.
How do you deal with your visual concept on social media?
Just being myself, not spending too much time on my socials, but I never forget my fans, always keeping them informed and upraised.
You also are an A&R Manager at Lithuania hq – Can you quickly describe your daily tasks as such?
I have many tasks, checking demos, writing emails, searching for vocals, editing tracks, sometimes mixing and mastering upcoming tracks on Lithuania HQ. I’m not the main A&R, so sometimes all the work is in the second place, because my own music is the main thing in my life.
How would you describe the perfect form of musical collaboration?
For me the perfect form is when both artists go 50-50 on creativity. I love when producers combine their own recognizable sounds and make a real collaboration.
How important are data insights for your (strategic) decisions?
It’s very important for your marketing. When you know your data insights you know what you can prepare for and what you should do next.
What’s next for Lucky Luke?
I can’t tell everything, but one thing is for sure – more bangers on the way.
